About ABOUT DESIGNERVera Thordardottir graduated as a fashion designer from Istituto Marangoni, London campus, in June 2010. In February same year Vera participated in FAD Fashion Awareness Direct competition and was chosen as one of 14 finalists to showcase her work on Vauxhall fashion scout. Vera received a special mention award from FAD, and received very positive review from press. During her studies Vera trained with Hussein Chalayan, William Tempest, Poltock and Walsh and PPQ.In June 2010 Vera was chosen to open the Istituto Marangoni show in London. Her collection was inspired by how frost effects the elements in her home country Iceland and Vera designed her own textile out of silicon, silver plated wires and Swarovski crystal sponsored by Swarovski. She also received a sponsorship from the Icelandic fish leather tanner Atlantic leather. Since then her graduation pieces have been worn by Lady Gaga on couple of occasions, whilst singing with Elton John at his White Tie and Tiara ball and when she presented Nick Knight with a self-made artpiece at SHOWstudio. After graduation Vera was employed as a design assistant to the head designer of WALSH. After being approached by Vauxhall fashion scout as a candidate for their program and getting interest from numerous private clients Vera decided to dedicate all of her time on establishing her label and her A/W11-12 collection opened Reykjavik Fashion Festival in April 2011.
